White Horse Caning
ABOUT
Welcome to White Horse Caning. For the past 15 years, I have specialised in repairing and restoring rattan caned chairs, helping treasured pieces find their place in the home once again. There is still nothing quite like the satisfaction of taking a broken or worn chair, often full of memories and character, and carefully bringing it back to beautiful, practical use.
Every chair has its own story, and my aim is to preserve that history while giving it many more years of life. Whether it is a family heirloom, a favourite everyday seat, or a much-loved vintage find, each repair is carried out with care, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
At White Horse Caning, traditional skills meet genuine passion for restoration - ensuring your furniture can be enjoyed for years to come.

MY WORK
I use only traditional, high-quality rattan cane, responsibly sourced from Indonesia, to ensure every repair is both authentic and built to last. Each piece is carefully hand woven using the traditional six-way cane pattern, faithfully recreating the original design so that the finished result looks true to the chair’s character and period. My aim is to always preserve the style and integrity of the piece, while restoring the strength and comfort it was made for.
Over the years, I have repaired a wide variety of caned furniture, from elegant Thonet and bentwood chairs to decorative sunrise, sunset and medallion back designs. I have also restored rocking chairs, Correction chairs, Victorian cake stands, and many humble occasional and bedroom chairs that simply needed a second chance.
Whatever the piece, they usually arrive tired, damaged, or broken - but almost always much loved. Through careful restoration, each one is given many more years of useful life, ready to be enjoyed once again in the home.
